NEW CYBERSECURITY BILL GIVES OBAMA POWER TO SHUT DOWN COMPANIES!

Paul Joseph Watson
September 28, 2010

An amalgamated cybersecurity bill that lawmakers hope to pass before the end of the year includes new powers which would allow President Obama to shut down not only entire areas of the Internet, but also businesses and industries that fail to comply with government orders following the declaration of a national emergency – increasing fears that the legislation will be abused as a political tool.

The draft bill is a combination of two pieces of legislation originally crafted by Senators Lieberman and Rockefeller. One of the differences between the new bill and the original Lieberman version is that the Internet “kill switch” power has been limited to 90 days without congressional oversight, rather than the original period of four months contained in the Lieberman bill.

In other words, President Obama can issue an emergency declaration that lasts 30 days and he can renew it for a further 60 days before congress can step in to oversee the powers.

The new powers would give Obama a free hand to not only shut down entire areas of the Internet and block all Internet traffic from certain countries, but under the amalgamated bill he would also have the power to completely shut down industries that don’t follow government orders, according to a Reuters summary of the new bill.

“Industries, companies or portions of companies could be temporarily shut down, or be required to take other steps to address threats,” states the report, citing concerns about an “imminent threat to the U.S. electrical grid or other critical infrastructure such as the water supply or financial network.”

The only protection afforded to companies under the new laws is that they would have to be defined as “critical” in order to come under government regulation, but since the government itself would decide to what companies this label applies, it’s hardly a comforting layer of security.

“Even in the absence of an imminent threat, companies could face government scrutiny. Company employees working in cybersecurity would need appropriate skills. It also would require companies to report cyber threats to the government, and to have plans for responding to a cyber attack,” states the report.

As we have highlighted, the threat from cyber-terrorists to the U.S. power grid or water supply is minimal. The perpetrators of an attack on such infrastructure would have to have direct physical access to the systems that operate these plants to cause any damage. The recent Stuxnet malware attack, for example, was introduced and spread through a physical USB device, not via the public Internet.

Any perceived threat from the public Internet to these systems is therefore completely contrived and strips bare what many fear is the real agenda behind cybersecurity – to enable the government to regulate free speech on the Internet.

Handing Obama the power to shut down certain companies or businesses is likely to heighten already existing fears that the new cybersecurity federal bureaucracy could be used as a political tool.

As we reported back in March, the Obama administration’s release of the Comprehensive National Cybersecurity Initiative, a government plan to “secure” (or control) the nation’s public and private sector computer networks, coincided with Democrats attempting to claim that the independent news website The Drudge Report was serving malware, an incident Senator Jim Inhofe described as a deliberate ploy “to discourage people from using Drudge”.

Senator Joe Lieberman appeared to admit that the legislation had more to do with simply protecting US infrastructure when he told CNN’s Candy Crowley that the bill was intended to mimic the Communist Chinese system of Internet policing.

“Right now China, the government, can disconnect parts of its Internet in case of war and we need to have that here too,” said Lieberman.

As we have documented, the Chinese government does not disconnect parts of the Internet because of genuine security concerns, it habitually does so only to oppress and silence victims of government abuse and atrocities, and to strangle dissent against the state, a practice many fear is the ultimate intention of cybersecurity in the United States.

The implementation of the cybersecurity apparatus would represent another huge expansion of the federal government, creating an Office of Cyber Policy within the executive branch and also “A new National Center for Cybersecurity and Communications (NCCC) within the Department of Homeland Security, led by a separate director who would enforce cybersecurity policies throughout the government and the private sector.”

Lawmakers have indicated that they intend to push through the bill before the end of the year, though with Congress set to leave Friday amidst deadlock on a number of issues, cybersecurity looks like it will have to wait until mid-November, providing its opponents with extra time to point out the inherent threats the legislation poses to free speech and free enterprise.

Not once had this report hit the media like it should, and if it does?

Then, the people should get the chance to be fully informed about the pros and cons of this new bill, and provide feed back as well.

AFFORDABLE HIGH QUALITY VIDEO PRODUCTION!

The Sargonites usually get asked pretty often, "Who does your videos?" and the answer to that would be.....Morbius!

Apart from being behind the boards at the recording studio, Morbius manages to capture the moments behind the cameras as well. Filming has been a part of him since his early childhood days as it was for most reknowned directors in the industry today. Since then, his video production expertise through trial and error allowed him to perfect a young directors obvious learning set backs, while increasing his creative strengths. Thus, gained him respect and recongnition from several fellow independent artists, who currently have him lined up with project after project because of his gifted insight behind filming.

Film production can be quite costly due to many variables such as location, lighting, camera quality, 3D animation, added effects, editing, directing, green screening, plus much more! which is why for this reason many indie artists either minimize or don't even include videos as a selling point for themselves. On the average to have a complete music video done independently would typically include: A days shoot with four takes, filmed at one location, a camera, lighting and additonal background props (smoke machine, a car or a motorcycle etc.,) all adds up to a price of $2,000. Now, of course with some added locations, effects and more days to shoot, then it ranges from $5,000 to $10,000. Major labels usually spend on the average of about $15,000 to even $150,000. Numbers such as these for an independent artist (especially for one who is starting out) do not become appealing nor even encouraging to go ahead and get a music video done.

So, why is it that independent artists are headed towards Morbius's direction?

That's because Morbius provides a one complete video package that consists of: Directing, editing lighting and filming equipment (which includes eye catching transitional effects with color correction on high-end editing software for the final production), films on several interior and exterior location sites, suggestive scripted storyline, filmed on a HD camera, shoots WAY over four takes and all in one days shoot for: $350!
if you want to shoot with the higher quality HDV Sony camera it's: $600
and for a quick release Video Promo: $150!
It's also $100 for everyday extra we have to shoot!

That's an incredible 85% in savings from the typical independent video cost! Making it truly an affordable high quality video production that give's great results, both on screen and on the wallet!

Here's a sample of Morbius's works:

"CRIMINALS WITH BADGES"

Its seems to be that everyday across the country (even across the world) police brutality occurs on a daily basis. Several years back, as little as ten years ago, evidence of a civilians bruised up face or body along with a testimony was sufficient to persue an investigation towards an aggressive police officer(s). In today's modern world, security has reached new boundaries with the assitance of advanced technology, in hopes for a better and safer enviornment for society. Just New York City alone has over 3,000 livestream CCTV survelliance cameras, monitered around the clock by the NYPD , not to mention that, Europe has over 500,000! cameras themselves.

I then ask myself, If it took one bystander's videotaped footage of four LAPD officers on March 3rd, 1991 (The famous Rodney King Beating) to apprehend those police officers, then how come the courts are not locking up more of these abusive cops like wild fire on a daily basis??

Here's why: The public isn't OutRaged enough!! That incident caused so much tension between the black community in Los Angeles, as soon as it aired on the news. In fact, when the police officers were tried in a state court and were aquitted, that was enough to spark the 1992 Los Angeles Riots. Then after a Federal trial for civil rights violations had found two of the officers sent to prison and then the other two aquitted.

Im not implying that we should all go out rioting to get results when every little incident occurs, but we do need to be smart about our actions when taking it up with the courts. A mass of concerned individuals for their community with a loud voice, proof  and a valid point can make anything happen. The way these police officers take out their frustrations on people in accordance of "doing there job" well, these HD cameras with excellent zoom in & out capabilities can provide more than enough evidence to convict these criminals with a badge.

Anger can mobilize our response for corrective action, however, uncontrolled anger can affect our personal and social well being.

FOX NEWS IS SOOOO STUPID!!!

Saudi Royal owns Fox News

Remarks by Dan Senor, a former Bush administration official, on Fox News this week led to a call to boycott the channel.
In an awkward moment on Fox News this week, a pundit suggested that a member of the Saudi royal family who has supported the bridge-building work of the imam behind a planned Muslim community center and mosque in Lower Manhattan “funds radical madrasas all over the world.” The awkwardness came from the fact — unmentioned by anyone on the Fox set — that the same Saudi,  Prince Alwaleed bin Talal, also happens to be the second-largest shareholder in News Corp., the parent company of the Fox News Channel.
During his appearance on Fox News on Monday, Dan Senor, a former Bush administration official, hinted darkly that Feisal Abdul Rauf — an imam who was first recruited to promote religious tolerance in the Middle East on behalf of the United States government by the Bush administration — had, in the past, received financial support from a Saudi foundation established by a man with supposed radical ties. Mr. Senor did not mention the prince’s name but said:
The Kingdom Foundation, so you know, is this Saudi organization, headed up by the guy who tried to give Rudy Giuliani $10 million after 9/11 that was sent back, funds radical madrasas all over the world.

Last week, Sam Gustin pointed out on AOL’s Daily Finance blog that the prince owns a good portion of the channel on which he was vilified:
The stridency with which Fox News personalities attack the downtown Islamic center — red meat for the millions who tune in each night — is an example of the often uneasy relationship and occasionally diverging interests between many of News Corp.’s properties, in this case Fox News and its parent corporation. For example, News Corp.’s second-largest shareholder, after the Murdoch family, is Prince Alwaleed bin Talal, the nephew of Saudi Arabian King Abdullah, and one of the world’s richest men.
Through his Kingdom Holding Co., Alwaleed owns about 7 percent of News Corp., or about $3 billion of the media giant.
News Corp.’s two largest shareholders, Prince Alwaleed bin Talal and Rupert Murdoch, last year in the United Arab Emirates.Karl Jeffs/Getty Images News Corp.’s two largest shareholders, Prince Alwaleed bin Talal and Rupert Murdoch, last year in the United Arab Emirates.
In an interview with Deborah Solomon of The New York Times Magazine in 2006, the prince said his attempt to give $10 million to victims’ families after the Sept. 11 attacks — which was returned because he also suggested that the United States should “adopt a more balanced stance toward the Palestinian cause” — was part of his attempt “to bridge the gap between Christianity and Islam and Judaism.”
As John Cook explained on Yahoo’s Update blog, several Fox News anchors and guests have gone to great lengths in recent weeks to suggest that the Muslim center is a front for radicalism by insisting that we must “follow the money” of the people who might donate money to it:
The opponents of the proposed Cordoba Initiative Islamic center planned for Lower Manhattan are fond of suggesting, by way of lengthy and often confusing chains of causation and association, that its principal planner, Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf, is connected to terrorism.
“The imam has been tied to some shady characters,”  Fox Business Channel’s Eric Bolling recently said, “so should we worry that terror dollars could be funding the project?”
Mr. Cook noted that the implication that Prince Alwaleed’s foundation spreads radicalism seems to stem from its donations to projects like one undertaken last year by the Islamic Development Bank, which is building three community centers in Malawi, each of which will reportedly include a mosque, a health center and a primary school.
The same day that Mr. Senor appeared on Fox, another News Corp. property, The Wall Street Journal, reported that “Controversy over the community center, which will contain a mosque and other facilities, has helped fan anti-Muslim rhetoric in the U.S. far from Lower Manhattan in recent weeks.” Evan Kohlmann, a terrorism expert who monitors jihadist Web sites told the newspaper, “We are handing al Qaeda a propaganda coup, an absolute propaganda coup,” with the uproar over the center.
As my colleague Frank Rich pointed out several years ago, someone should really tell all journalists who think that they are emulating Woodward and Bernstein by repeating the mantra “follow the money” that the phrase was invented by the screenwriter William Goldman for the Hollywood version of “All the President’s Men.”
But taking the Fox pundits at their word, Jon Stewart suggested on The Daily Show this week that the best way to keep the Saudi prince from making money and then possibly using it to back the mosque project, is to boycott Fox News:
This is the proposed ‘terror mosque.’ We know that it’s a ‘terror mosque’ because the money may be coming from a bad guy, who definitely owns part of Fox News. Now, we know that he’s a bad guy because we just heard it on Fox News.
And by hearing it on Fox News, watching Fox News, I’m increasing their viewership. And their advertising rates go up. Now, part of that money goes to the bad guy we learned about on Fox because he’s their part owner — Prince Alwaleed bin Talal — allowing him then to make it rain, so to speak, on the ‘terror mosque.’
My point is this: If we want to cut off funding to the ‘terror mosque,’ we must, together as a nation, stop watching Fox.
